Px HealthCare Presents Comparative Regional Evaluation of OWise Breast Cancer Patient Support App

London, 26 September 2024 — Px HealthCare (Px), the digital health company behind the clinically-validated OWise cancer patient support app, announced today the results of a comparative evaluation of the use of the OWise breast cancer app in the UK and the Netherlands. The evaluation underscored the role that social media outreach plays in the retention and engagement of OWise breast cancer app users.

The Role of Social Media Patient Activation in User Engagement and Real World Evidence Generation

The evaluation compared the demographic, usage and clinical characteristics of users of the OWise breast cancer app platform. Without any significant differences in demographic and clinical characteristics of the UK and Dutch users, the investigation highlighted that the UK app users, who were more actively reached through the OWise social media campaigns, showed greater involvement with the app, spending more time per session and contributing more data, like real-time Patient Reported Outcome (PRO) data.

Kimberley Hogg, Director of Real World Evidence at Px HealthCare, commented:

“These findings highlight the importance of targeted user engagement strategies in maximizing the benefits of the OWise digital health tool. By leveraging social media to activate and support the user base, we’ve been able to foster a more engaged community of breast cancer patients in the UK. This increased engagement not only helps patients better manage their treatment journey but also provides more real-time, robust, patient reported real world data to inform patient-centered care.”

Looking Forward: Digital Health for Personalized Cancer Care

With these insights, Px HealthCare continues to pave the way for the use of digital tools in personalized cancer care. The OWise breast cancer app exemplifies how patient engagement can drive better outcomes and more informed treatment decisions. By continuing to explore regional usage patterns, Px HealthCare is committed to improving app accessibility and tailoring support for diverse patient populations globally.
